In calamitous, heart-breaking times like this, we need to evaluate our īmān (belief) and check if we were to be put in pressurised, tough, life and death situations like those who are being oppressed, would we compromise our Deen (religion of Islām) in ways that are forbidden when put to the test?
After the assessment, if we see a red alert, i.e. realise our īmān is quite weak, thus could fail the test in such conditions, then we still have at least a bit of time right now to change. And so we need to prioritise working to fortify our īmān by having humility before Allāh; being sincere; repenting & seeking His forgiveness; reciting Qur'ān with reflection, reading its English meanings/Tafsīr and pondering over them; learning from lectures/classes/books that which would strengthen our īmān, listening to the Qur'ān as well as prioritising Allāh over this Dunyā (worldly life) which is easily done after implementing the aforementioned actions of the heart and body.
Realise also the reality that by prioritising Allāh, we will naturally, after giving some time to doing the aforementioned 'ibādah (worship) related actions, be pushed in the form of 'duty,' to also apportion some time for the Dunyā, especially when we're tasting the sweetness of īmān and we don't want to do any worldly related work.
For example, there are those of us who, as a result of prioritising Allāh, will be pushed into apportioning some time regularly to work towards financial independence, as a 'duty,' in order to protect our Deen/īmān, provide for our family members and help the needy from amongst the Ummah through establishing long term projects or otherwise. We'd have to give time to such work even when our soul would rather spend extra time instead, reciting the Qur'ān, to enjoy tasting more of the sweetness from its recitation, after having already tasted it. However, by prioritising the allocated portion of our time to work towards financial independence in this case, it leads to barakah (blessings), thus makes us more productive, in turn, progressing faster towards our goals, thereby succeeding in both this world and the Hereafter bi-ithnillāh.
